WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Anti-wrinkle injections are composed of a natural, purified protein. When injected into specific facial muscles, wrinkle-causing muscles are relaxed to reduce dynamic lines and create a younger, softer, and natural-looking appearance.
HOW DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS WORK?
Anti-wrinkle injections inhibit the transmission of neurotransmitter from the nerve to the muscle and stop the muscle from contracting and forming wrinkles. The fact that anti-wrinkle injections also stop the constant compression of skin, they prevent the permanent 'etching' of wrinkles in the areas treated.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON FACIAL AREAS TREATED WITH ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Anti-wrinkle injections are most commonly used for treatment of frowns, forehead lines, bunny lines (creases beside the nose) and crow’s feet (around eyes).
We also use anti-wrinkle injection to treat a gummy smile.
These injections are often used to reduce the hyper active Masseter muscle, the cheek muscle. Hyper active Masseter muscle resulting from Bruxism (teeth grinding) often is stress related. Bruxism can cause wear to teeth and dental restorations, shortening of the front teeth, tension headaches, and a squarer looking face. Injections used here will reduce the Masseter muscle's activity, relieving tension headache caused by stress related Bruxism, prevent shortening of teeth from grinding and make dental restorations last longer, plus at the same time give you a slimmer looking face.

How long will it last?
The effects can last from three up to six months, at which point you can book a top up treatment. Clinical studies indicate that this treatment has a cumulative effect, so you should need fewer injections as time goes on.

What are dermal/lip fillers?
Dermal fillers offer an affordable and highly effective way to address the effects of aging. Minimal, non-surgical injections will reduce nose to mouth lines and add youthful volume to lips, cheeks and chins. The main component of the filler is hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in human skin that helps repair damaged tissue. It can also bind with collagen, which is the material that supports facial skin, in a way that allows more natural nutrients to flow to the skin. Because it is natural substance in the skin it gives a much more natural appearance than other filler materials.
How soon will i see results?
You see the results immediately and the look continues to improve for 1-2 weeks as the fillers softens and draws moisture into the area.
Is it painful?
No, the dentist will completely numb the area prior to placing any filler. We also use numbing cream before giving you the numbing injection to assure you feel as little as possible.
Is there any recovery/Downtime?
There is no real “down-time” with this type of treatment. You can perform your normal activities the same day. You will be numb after the appointment and this will wear off after a couple of hours. It is important to be careful eating and drinking whilst you are numb.
Some people have minor bruising and swelling which will go away quickly. You should use ice before and after the procedure to keep this to a minimum. There may be small bumps that can be felt along the path of the injection, we will show you how to massage these out. Your body soon absorbs these components into your own collagen and acts like it belongs to your body.
How long will it last?
The effects can last from six to nine months, at which point you can book a top up treatment. Most of our lip filler patients have the procedure done at the same appointment as their regularly dental check up and clean. This gives our patients maximum convenience, discretion and they can be numb for both procedures. Clinical studies show that the less movements the lips undergo (such as talking, rubbing, etc) the longer the filler will last.
What happens after my appointment?
Before you leave the clinic at the end of your treatment, we will book you in for a check up 2 weeks later, so that we can review the results of your treatment once it has taken full effect. If you do not have full correction of the treated area, you may just need more a bit more filler to fill this area out.
